Hair Don'ts

"Sorry, NO pictures please!"

This weekend I was hurrying to get my hair done so we could go to the Air Force Museum with some friends.  (More to come on that!)  Anywho... I was rushing to finish my hair with a flat iron.  My beauty tool of choice.  I started in the back and worked my way around to the front.  Much to my surprise I had burned off my hair!  The flat iron got so hot that it burned my hair OFF.  I started really high in the back and also singed off huge chunks in the front.  All at once my senses conformed my horror.  The smell conformed what my eyes and hands were telling me.  It all happened so fast I couldn’t believe it.  It took me a few minutes to realize what exactly had happened.  I didn’t get a picture of it because it was NOT a pretty sight!
I have laughed and cried numerous time this past weekend and this week.  Trevor begged me not to get a boy hair cut and just let it grow out.  I couldn't just ignore it though.  We are talking a fourth of my hair is singed off four inches from the top!!!  I went to my wonderful neighbor and hair stylist and she worked her magic.  It looks so much better than it did, but it has some growing out to do before it is totally fixed.  I'm sad and depressed but what can I do?  If you see me sitting in the back row or fixing my hair in a stylish SHORT pony tail day after day after day know this, YES I am depressed!
Hair Don'ts
1.  Don't do your hair in a hurry.  Make everyone wait a few minutes, or get up earlier.
2.  Don't flat iron your hair without those outrageously expensive styling products that protect from extreme heat!  Not that one would have saved me, but it might have helped.
Hair Dos
1. Check the heat with your finger first.  A small burn on your finger will heal much faster than burnt hair!!!
Just how hot was the iron?  Hot enough to melt the plastic casing around the heat element!

What is the worst part of this ordeal? I had just gotten my hair cut a week before and I absolutely LOVED it.  Too bad so sad.
