Layton Sprint Triathlon

I ran in my first sprint triathlon this past Saturday.  I was very pleased with my accomplishment.  I have been training 5 days a week for a little over 3 months with a great friend, shout out to Katie B!  She is one of the MOST amazing people I know.  Thanks for talking me into this crazy race.  And yes, I want to do it again next year.

Here's what I did...
swam 600 meters
biked 11 miles
and ran a 5 K...
in 1 hour 45 minutes and 12 seconds!

It was a Sprint Triathlon so the format was like this:
Swim 300 meters
Bike 5.5 miles
Run 1.5 miles
REPEAT!!!

Not the fastest competitor, but I did make all of my goals.

0. Make it through the training!  Very Important!
1. Complete the course.
2. No walking or taking a break.  (I even jogged in the transitions baby!)
3. Finish with in an hour and 45 minutes.  (Ok I was technically 12 seconds over, but I had to take a quick potty break before the second swim.)
4. Prove to myself and my kids that I can do something hard and finish what I start.

I was most amazed at how well I gauged my goals with my ability.  I am very pleased with my accomplishment!  This has been a great experience.

I want to thank my amazing husband who encouraged me from the moment I told him about the race until the very end.  He was an awesome support and encouraged me everyday.  He was in Colorado for work and flew home for 48 hours just to be there.

Here I am swimming!  Look out Michael Phelps.
I love this picture because you can see my kids in the back ground.  They all gave me high fives as I ran by.  Then Garrett ran with me for a few seconds.  I turned back and he held hands with me for a few seconds as we ran together.  He was so proud of me.  That moment with my kids made the entire thing worth every early morning, and sore muscle.

Thanks for all the support!

Family Reunions

It's been a crazy summer!  But the kids are having so much fun so all the running around has been worth it!  We went up to Idaho for a little reunion on Dad Braswell's side.  I only have pics of Emery being spoiled and loved by Great Grandma Reeves and her Great Aunts.

We had a reunion with the Glenn's the weekend Marianne left.

We went to BYU campus and had a video scavenger hunt, and some other fun activities.  This is Carson helping Em walk at the Multi Cultural Center. (upper photo)   That night we stayed in a hotel down in Draper then went on a hike in Cotten wood canyon the next day.  Carson and Trevor got caught in the rain.  (lower photo)...

We also had the "Amazing Race" and did some karaoke but I didn't get photos of those events.

Next was the week of the Braswell Family reunion... We did a temple tour of some of the temples here in the valley.  It was a great experience for our kids to visit so many temple with their extended family.
Laura and Lance at the Bountiful Temple

Daddy and Em at Jordan River.
Carson and Devon on the Jordan River grounds.
Trying to round up people for a photo at Oaker Mt.
Carson and Garrett on the Draper Temple Grounds.
Mt. Timp where we got married 11 years ago!
Paige in a tree on the Ogden Temple grounds.

Then we went down to Temple Square via the front runner.

We went through the temple with Laura.
Checked out the museums at Union Station.

It was a really great week, for for all!

4th of July

Fourth of July 2012
This year on the 4th of July Marianne and the kids came out to visit.
Here are the high lights from the week...

We went to Kennecott copper mine and saw the crazy big trucks!  The mine is so huge you can see the man made crater from space!
Look at the size of those tires!

From the top where we were standing these trucks looked like match box cars.
Then we went swimming at a reservoir...

Then we hiked in Ogden Canyon.  Most of those photos are on Trevor's phone.

It was really fun seeing the kids I use to nanny!  And I always enjoy checking things off my "things to do in Utah list!"

Moab

Trevor went to Moab with the BSA for high adventure.  Here are a few pics.  Me and the kids hung out at home while he was out hiking, rappelling, and rafting.  He had an awesome experience.

He looked like a mountain man when he got home.
